Richard & I met on the Lake County Honor flight. we got to talking and found out that our lives were almost the same. We both went to WTHS. I graduated in 1962 he did in 1964. We both worked at Johnson Motors and Abbots. Both joined Marines Both vent to Nam. Both became Sergeants. I looked forward to see him at every Lake County Honor flight reunion each month. We got to know each other. He was a happy man. Sad to know that I will never see him again. I pray for the family that God will give them peace through this time. I hope that he is guarding those pearly gates. Then I will see him again when is my turn.

Richie was the boy who could always make you smile no matter how you were feeling
I came of age with that generous disposition nearby
He lived the life we all dream of surrounded by loved ones
I last saw him and Shirl at WTHS 1964 50th reunion. He was still smiling that “Richie” smile
We followed each other on FB. A lot of baseball rivalry between Cubs and Nationals
His beacon of light warms all of us who were privileged to know him
My deepest condolences to Shirl and his family. Know that you were blessed to have him be yours.

Rich, or as he was known in the old neighborhood Richie, was one of the nicest kids in the neighborhood. We used to have baseball pick-up games, in the parking lot of IC school, when ever there were enough kids.. He was the fastest kid on two feet, and no one could keep up with him.
Lost touch with him after WTHS, but saw him years later, still the same Richie, and always smiling. Sad to hear the news, but what a wonderful life he lived
My condolences to his wife and family.
