Lynelle Yarbrough

Obituary of Lynelle Diane Yarbrough

Lynelle Diane Yarbrough (née Ower), 61, passed away on February 8th, 2021 in Beach Park, IL. Born on May 13th, 1959 in Zion, IL, Lynelle was the youngest of three children and the only daughter of Donald and Genevra Ower. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School and received her B.S. in Nutrition from Northern Illinois University; she worked at North American Herb and Spice for over twenty years. Lynelle met her husband, Jeffrey Yarbrough, through a mutual friend when she was 24 and he was just shy of 21; she waited to tell her friends they were dating until after his birthday because she was embarrassed that he was "too young!" They were happily married for nearly 34 years and hoped to travel to Europe together after they retired. Lynelle was a devoted mother, wife, and family member. Since her passing, her friends and family have described her as loving, giving, and kind. She was a selfless woman who cared so much about the well-being of others. In her final years, she worked tirelessly to find a cure for her son, Davis, who struggled with chronic pain issues. Seneca said that “Death is the undoing of all our sorrows, an end beyond which our ills cannot go; it returns us to that peace in which we reposed before we were born.” We take solace knowing that Lynelle has returned to peace. Lynelle is preceded in death by her grandparents, Laura and James Bethel Rooks and Roy William and Louise Jordan Ower; her father, Donald Ower; and two sons, Elias and Davis Yarbrough. She is survived by her mother, Genevra Ower; two brothers, Doug and Dwight Ower; her husband, Jeffrey Yarbrough; and her son, Ben Yarbrough; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sierra Club or the World Wildlife Fund in Lynelle's honor. --
