Obituary of Joan Marie Savage

Joan M. Savage, 87, of Zion, IL, passed away on November 17, 2020 in Highland Park, IL. Joan was born August 4, 1933 in Waukegan, IL. She attended Bonnie Brook Baptist Grade School and graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School. She married Ambrose Savage on June 6, 1953 in Waukegan and together they raised 3 children. Joan was a member of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church. She worked for Abbott Laboratories and also as a wife and mother to her family. Joan was a member of the Abbott Group Dancers who would dance at veterans hospitals. She enjoyed all kinds of travels and family vacations. She was an avid reader and was the life of a party. Joan is survived by her loving children, Ambrose H. (Dianna) Savage of Alpharetta, GA, Randi L. (Debbie) Savage of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Sandy I. Savage of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Joshua (Deborah) Savage, Jessica (Dusty) Peters, Matthew (Jodi) Savage, Patrick (Christina) Savage, Shane Miller, Asheigh (Joel) Meagher; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ambrose R. Savage; mother, Gladys (nee Stanley) Derreberry; father, Ernest Derreberry; sisters, Margaret Jellings and Roberta Willman; and a brother Ernest Derreberry.
