While fifty plus years has gone by in what feels like the blink of an eye there are some things that I will never forget and high on that list is the warmth and kindness shown to me by the Colwell family. To each of them I would like to extend my deepest and most sincere sympathies.
With much love and respect,
Gary Townsend

Dear Shirley........
I have the fondness of Wes. Always a BIG smile on his face. I remember as a H.S. student he gave his new Olds to Robert & I to go to Rooks & listen to the sermon from CCC. He has blessed this earth by just being here & showing his lover to his family, friends, & church.
RIP my dear friend, I'll see you again in Heaven.........
Your friend,
Corty Studebaker

A good and faithful servant. I knew Wes & Shirley for years. My son was a custodian at CCC and he had the privilege of working with Wes on church projects. Since moving to Tennessee, have lost touch. Sincere condolences to Shirley and the family.

Pam, I'm sure you don't remember me from high school, but right after graduation, I got a job from your Dad at American Acoustics and Plastering. It was my first "real" paying job. Your Pop expected a hard days work out his employees, but he was fair and kind to all of us as I remember. He was a good boss to work for, and I remember him fondly for that. My condolences to you and your family at this time.

Sandy and I really got to know Wes and Shirley after I retired by serving with them at funeral dinners and planting the rose garden. I am very glad we did. I will never forget what Wes taught me: Wes would say when someone offered appreciation for something he did, "It is MY pleasure to serve YOU."
I loved it when we jumped into his truck to pick up materials or to Jewel for their fried chicken. Wes would always tell me his stories; recounting how Jesus had been so faithful and forgiving to him and providing him a lifetime of family and friends. I enjoyed listening to him visit with and kidding his old buddies Roy Flood and Bill Harrison at N&T's. That was the best! Wes was way ahead of his time taking and showing photos on his cell phone.
Wes had wonderful ideas of how to maintain the church and grounds and raise the funds to do them. We worked together on bathrooms and kitchen upgrades. So much energy, strength and flexibility in a small package. "Don, asked Wes smiling while showing me his sketch of the rose garden, what do you think about this?" I looked at it and looked at it again. Wes had arranged the brick walkway around the old downtown Zion bell and divided up the garden in four quadrants around it. "Wes, that's a copy of the church grounds on the circle!"
Our deepest condolences to Shirley and all the extended Colwell Family. Each of you are such a reflection of your parents with a legacy of family, friendship, faith, hard work and goodness.
With love,
Don & Sandy Good

Wes lived next to us on Eshcol for years, he was a great and very friendly person. He shared is knowledge and stone cutting saw with me when I was installing patio blocks and when I was bricking the front of my decaying porch steps. I was saddened when he and his wife moved away. I'm sure he will be missed greatly by those were still in his life.
