Obituary of Mercedes Hemersbach

Mercedes I. Hemersbach, 58, of Gurnee, died on Monday, November 12, 2007, at home. Mercedes was born April 18, 1949, in Waukegan, and was a 1967 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. She married Ronald Hemersbach on February 24, 1973, in Waukegan, and was a member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. Mercedes retired from Ameritech after 30 years of employment and worked the last six years for Abbott Laboratories. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ronald; daughters, Beth (Edward) Voce and Julie (A.J.) Poyer; grandchildren, Emily, Giovanni, Andrew, Alex, Kaitlin and Noah; brothers, Joseph (Doris) Lopez Jr. and Bernard Lopez; sister-in-law, Shirley Lopez; and brother, Donald Velasquez. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph Sr. and Inocencia Lopez and nephew, Bernard Lopez Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd, Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, from 5:00- 8:00 pm. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, and again at Our Lady of Humility Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
