Obituary of Dennis Martin Ray
Dennis Martin Ray of Zion, walked on, December 11, 2019 in Zion. Dennis was born January 19, 1943, VMH, Waukegan, IL. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township highschool 1961. After High school Dennis worked for Johnson Motors in Waukegan and he decided to further his education and attended Devry Tech. school in Chicago. Completing his training, he began working for the Zion Nuclear Power Plant until his retirement. Dennis was the son of Robert & Gloria Ray, part of the original cast members of the Zion Passion Play as Peter & Martha. Dennis and cousin David Ower also became cast members, during 1961 season. Dennis had many friends of Zion and Kenosha area bicycle clubs. Over the years his interests included Woodworking, beekeeping with wife Barbara, stick bowling with Kenosha friends. But first and foremost playing his piano and fishing stayed with him his entire life. Fishing was the thing to do when not making music. He went whenever he found the time. From childhood with his father and brother, to recently with his grandson Dakotah of Kenosha. He is missed also by good friend Tyler, and his cello, of NJ. Dennis wanted to thank the Doctors and Nurses for all the care and concern they gave Dennis at the Cancer Treatment Center in Zion. He was preceded in death by Parents Robert and Gloria Ray, many loved aunts and uncles, cousins Darla Gooden of FL. David Ower of CA; and grandson Jonathan of Kenosha. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (O'Toole) Ray of Carol Beach; daughter, Patricia Leick; grand-daughter, Amber Woodruff; great-granddaughter, Rosie Woodruff; brother, Timothy of WI; and cousins, Marlene Hensley of FL and Donita Robinson of AZ.
