Obituary of Lloyd "Dick" Rex

Lloyd "Dick" Rex, of Irmo, SC; and formerly of Chicago, IL, and Meridian, ID; passed away December 4, 2019 in Zion, IL. 

He spent his golden retirement years hosting Sunday pancake breakfasts, bonding over playing inventive games with his grandchildren, reminiscing over family shenanigans, and tinkering on projects in the garage. One of his greatest joys was building model airplanes and naming them after family members and introducing the fleet to people who came to visit. 

He is survived by his daughters, Marcia Rydquist, Regina Luczak, and Wendy (Chris) Rex Mielke; grandchildren Eric, Adam, Kaitlyn, Jamie, Emily, and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgine Rex; sons-in-law, Jim Rydquist, and Rich Luczak; and a brother, Ronald Rex. 

Services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Foundation Fighting Blindness (www.fightingblindness.org) would be greatly appreciated.
