Obituary of Keturah Enora Morrison

Keturah Enora Morrison, “Miss Ket,” transitioned into eternal life on Saturday, November 9, 2019, in Homestead, Florida, at the age of 97. Keturah was born in Bull Head Mountain, Clarendon, Jamaica on July 25, 1922 to Eunice Roberts and John Smith. Keturah was a resident of Sligoville, St. Catharine, Jamaica.

Keturah was a gifted seamstress. Before emigrating from Jamaica to the United States on September 2, 1967, she made school uniforms for children and dresses for her neighbors, friends, and other acquaintances. In the United States, she began working as a housekeeper, and then began her career as a production worker at Abbott Laboratories where she worked for over ten years. She retired in 1984 and decided to return permanently to Jamaica, to a home she built with her beloved husband.

Keturah was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Granny.” She had a vibrant personality and always made people around her smile. She made friends everywhere she went and never hesitated to share her wisdom. She was a devoted friend and confidant to many. Keturah also assisted many by sponsoring them to immigrate to the United States.

Keturah was preceded in death by her mother Eunice Roberts, husband Alpheus Morrison, daughters Jenifer Dawn Morrison, Carol Karleen McCalla, and Barbara Yvonne Henderson, and her brother William Fletcher.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, three children Errol (Donna) Morrison, Vilma Barr, Colin (Sharron) Morrison; two grandsons, whom she raised, Joshua (Beth) Winters, and Simon Morrison; and a host of grand-children, great grand-children, great-great grand-children.

A Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois 60099. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity United Lutheran Church, 658 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, Illinois 60085.
