Chico was the first derby driver I can remember from lake county as a child. I used to cheer for him, and then as a driver myself, I used to battle him, and as a promoter, I had the honor of giving him his only feature win at the final show at the old Lake County. That’s one of my happiest moments of my derby career. I truly loved and admired Chico and believe that I would never have gotten hooked by the sport, had he not brought the Pink Panther (one of my favorite characters) to the arena.
