It’s was a very sad day with the lose of a great man Don Scanlon. He always treated me like on of his own kids. Don and Vicki Harris-Scanlon always Welcomed me into their home with open arms and I cannot thank them enough. He taught me so much in the years that I worked for him. And if I was doing something wrong he would yell at me and call me Butch then tell me what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. I’m gonna miss this man. Sorry for your lose Vic, Jimmy Scanlon, and John Scanlon.

Thank you for the best damn fish sandwich I ever had in my life. You caught it, filleted it and cook it. Thank you for the great conversations that went with me just popping by for coffee and Scentsy talks with Vicki. I love you both and will miss you dearly.

Don was such a good guy. Always willing to help out, even from 1,000 miles away he would walk me through car problems, appliance malfunctions and even a few Candy Crush tips to beat a level. I loved his dry sense of humor and no nonsense advice. My favorite memory was the time he took me out on his boat in Lake Michigan. I've been on boats but not on a body of water that large. Just he and I and he told me so many stories about his and Vic's shenanigans when they were younger. Kind of wish I had been there for some of those but probably better I wasn't. I will miss his wonderful breakfast sandwiches, watching him completely spoil Chloe, and his funny anti Trump messages he would send every day. The Dallas-Green Bay game won't be as fun to watch without him. Rest in peace Don, you were loved and will be missed by so many. May we all be as blessed as you.

Donnie was the funniest brother a sister could have. He could make anyone laugh. A mumbly grumbly dry sense of humor. A sincere heart. Zero bullshit.. He was honest and straight to the point. As kids nearly everyday we would have our bowl of cereal in the closet. It was our fort and Donnie always had his cocoa pebbles, I had my Kix. (What I wouldn't give for a bowl with him now). Then there was the time he decided to let me cut his hair. Now I didn't know a thing about cutting hair and when the blow-dry was done Don wore a stocking hat for about 6 weeks and reminded daily that I'd never get the chance to improve on his head. I think of the countless days we'd fish up North when spending summer vacations on Grandma and Grandpa Scanlons farm. And Oh how my brother loved our Dad, whom he very much takes after. So many old memories that I will always cherish. He will be so missed. So remembered for the many times he made me laugh. Thinking of him now makes me smile even though My heart is heavy. He will never be forgotten and his memory will always bring a smile. Love you always Donnie. Susan

When I think of Don I think of my daily phone conversations with Vicki. Even though I was talking to Vic on the phone Don knew as much about my life as she did. Vic always included him in the conversations by asking "Isn't that right Don?" or
'What do you think Don?". He was quick to give his advice through short answers usually with a bit of sarcasm :O)
In these daily conversations it was quite evident the incredible relationship between him and Vicki.
He was the kind of guy that made a family gathering more fun. He might only say three words at a time but those three words were always hilarious!
He will be TRULY MISSED!

It’s been many years ago but when I think of Don I always think about the time that my mom and I made a trip up north to visit and Don brought fish and cooker over to Uncle Jimmy’s and Aunt Helen’s and he fried up some fish and we had the best time!

Don and I became close friends while working 2nd shift on the American Motors assembly line starting in 1973. We had lots of great adventures as we navigated our early 20’s. One of the more memorable was a rock concert on the bicentennial (July 4, 1976) that was a springboard to a week near Spooner fishing for walleye. We also had the unfortunate experience of being cited for trespassing (it was truly inadvertent) on our trail bikes. Don’s mom had to bail us out of the Waukegan jail. Don (aka “Grunt”) was a great guy, always friendly, and always enjoying life. You are gone too soon, Don. Your friend, Dave (aka “Wires”)
