Nancy, I learned just recently of Nathan's death, and while I did not know him, what hurts you hurts me. Nancy, to me, you were a voice of comfort and compassion and tenderness last year, when both of my parents died in August. I was very, very lost, and am still creeping, more slowly than I anticipated, out of that deep dark well. Your kindness and love during those days will never be forgotten—they were unconditional, honest and pure. I see that same love, multiplied by a million, in your eyes in every photo I come across of you and your beautiful boy, Nathan. Your Facebook page is a testimonial to an intrepid mother with an iron will, and her lucky, loving child who was blessed by having you at his side. I mourn with you, Nancy, and I want you to know I keep you in my thoughts and prayers these days, and will forever remain connected to you thanks to the love you showed me in my darkest of hours. The story of your special relationship with Nathan is blasted all over these pages, and your FB page, and other memorial sites not only in photos, but in the worlds of friends and family who clearly hold you so dear. My love and deepest of sympathies, Nancy. Your friend, Jim Keister, Jr.

God made heaven, God made Earth,
He made us all with so much worth.
You graced this world, for a little while,
With Golden hair, and a big bright smile.
Always playing and joking around,
Having a disability, couldn't keep you down.
Patiently waiting with that big ole smile,
Always up to something, just give him awhile.
Courageous and bravely, you fought until the end,
Rest well, Rest well, Nathan my friend.

Nathan will be remembered always by his hugs and infectious laugh. He never met a stranger that he didn’t want to give a hug to.

My heart and thought goes out to Nancy and family. I am not as close as I would like to be to my extended family, but I will never forget going through Navy boot camp in IL., and my Memaw (Ruth (Terrebone) Ward) told me to make sure I go visit Nancy and Nathan while I was in the area. Nathan was so sweet and kind and gave the warmest hugs. I am glad that I got to meet him during that short time in IL.
