I got to spend more time with My Dad in last 10 yrs 1 on 1 than I think I did in 18 yrs that I lived in house. I loved all the story's of His life before I knew Him. I got to share with Him things I did, that I never would have told Him while I lived at home. As it turned out we were both lucky to have survived some of what We did in our younger days. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Dad taught Me far more valuable things then most of the schools did. If it was broke I could fix it or pronounce dead. He took Me fishing every chance He got, I still cherish every moment fishing with Him. He was happy go lucky, more than easy to get along with in His later years. All of the Doctors and staff were always happy to see Him. Dad left with a valid Drivers Licence. That was 16 yrs behind the wheel test every year. Where is My flying car He would ask, as it was the only thing left on His bucket list. He didn't want to wind up horizontal for long time before He left, He didn't. He didn't want go in the dead of winter. He didn't. He got His parting wishes. I told Him to let go that it was alright before leaving the Hospital on His last day, 2 hrs later I got the call, letting Me know He had let go. He had been at peace with leaving for the last 2 yrs. A life well lived. Thanks for everything Dad. You will be missed. But You will live on in our hearts and memory's until We join You.
