I have been thinking alot about my friend Don "Hoof." He was such a friend. He always understood others and was thinking about how he could help. Was there anything that he hadn't done? Everytime I talked with him (usually weekly, if not more) he would tell me something even more interesting, like the time he swam away from a sinking ship in the Northsea. Don, had a perfect understanding of how to help children. He had an instant connection with any child that stuttered.
This week each year I would meet with Don when returned from the Black Hills. Also, this week we would go eat Menudo. Don, I miss you buddy and thank you for being my friend.

“Hoof” was a great friend and one of the best Speech Pathologists I have ever met. I worked with him for many years. Don was a lifelong person who stutters. He made it his mission to help children who stutter and the world is a better place for him. His toughness and endurance throughout his illness was inspiring. I miss talking to him weekly and I miss his stories. Thanks Hoof for your friendship.

I am so sad to hear of Don's loss
He was a good man. Don was loving, caring and kind. He was funny and had a great sense of humor.
From Augustana to the Fighting Illini - he loved sports.
And Don was always up for a road trip From San Diego to South Dakota to Alaska - he had a great sense of adventure.
For those who remember his famous Thanksgiving dinners in San Diego - you know his door was always open. We always seemed to have visitors. He loved his family and was loyal to his friends
I am sure there are countless who miss him. I wish that memories of his love and warmth bring Sandi and her family peace.
My prayers for all his loved ones

I am sad to hear about Don's passing. I was fortunate enough to play football with in in the early 1970's at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. I never saw him after college, but based on the other condolences, Don never lost the tenacity that he had as a football player. He was a great guy and I would like to express my sympathy to his family and friends.
Sincerely,

We first met in Pelican , Alaska. He was amazing. . He had the strength of two men and an ability to endure hard work , and the good sense to pick friends who were loyal. IN those days of the late seventies and '80's , Rose's Bar was without consistent, lawful support. No police or sheriff existed in town and Don would literally risk his neck to quell sometimes lawless patrons.
He would defend his own friends with all he had. His wry sense of humor often summed up unsavory situations in words that left me grinning.
Rest in peace, Don. You were a spectacular friend who will be deeply missed.

I just learned of Don’s passing. Don worked for my husband in the defense business in San Diego. Later Din followed us to Texas and worked in our Environmental and Construction company, Unified Services of Texas. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I knew Don from school days at Our Savior's Lutheran, and then also from high school. He was kinda like a big brother to me. He always had time for us younger guys. He was a fellow Christian, and an integral part of being a school mate at Our Savior's Lutheran. I always enjoyed being around him. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. Don will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him. Gods speed to you Don. See you on the other side. Condolences to you Sandy.
Sincerely & Respectfully,
