Obituary of Virginia Louise Roberts

Virginia Louise Roberts departed this earthly life on Sunday, January 6, 2019. 

She was born on September 16, 1938 in Rienzi, Mississippi to Lee and Ola Essary.  Virginia and her husband, Julius, migrated north to find work; Julius at A.M.C. and Virginia at Warwick Industries in Zion.  After 8 years, she then worked at O.M.C. and finally bartended at The Doll House for 6 years.  Virginia enjoyed playing poker, winning at poker, dancing, and karaoke... yes, karaoke.  She spent the last 8 years of her life residing at Prairie Ridge Senior Complex where she made many friends.

Virginia is survived by her son, Ernie and his wife and very special daughter-in-law, Karen; grandchildren, Eric Roberts, Kelly (Don) Golien, Tara Roberts, and Andy Roberts; great-grandchildren, Kaila and Katelyn Golien, and Rocco Dominguez; and her sister, Vivian Mask.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lee and Ola Essary; her siblings, Faye, Leonard, Eva Mae, Troy, Clovis, and Imogene; her husband, Julius; and her son, Ken.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
