Obituary of Rob "Truck" Hombaker
Robert Lee Hombaker II of Round Lake Beach, IL has passed away after a brief illness at 54 years of age on October 14, 2018. He was surrounded by family and friends during this difficult time.
Robert “Truck” Hombaker is survived by his wife, Darlene Agena-Hombaker, stepson, Jon Bevans, brother William Kurt Hombaker (Kimberly Hombaker), Sisters in law, Tammy Sutter-Hombaker and Sylvia Weddle, brothers in law, Mark Agena and David Agena, granddaughter, Angel DiMeo as well as many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Hombaker in 2014, his mother, Phyllis Hombaker nee Myers in 2016, his mother in law, Ursula L. Mumm, and recently his father in law, Norman Isamu Agena in 2018.
Robert was born on April 12, 1964 in Waukegan, Illinois. He achieved a Bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University with honors. During his college years, he met his wife Darlene and his life began anew. Robert would prefer it if he was referred to as his endeared nickname, “Truck” from here forward. Truck graduated college, married the love of his life, Darlene, on October 16, 1992 and took a position at Medline Industries where he would work for 21 years.
Truck was a creative soul, beginning in early childhood where he had a talent for personification of animals in stories he created that would serve as wonderful memories for his families. He would include his dogs in the creations in emails to his wife in his adulthood. He enjoyed art and drawing in particular. Truck loved bowling. Many Friday nights would be devoted to his friends at Lake’s Bowl and maybe a couple of Bud Lights. Motorcycling fascinated Truck. He was a biker long before he even had his first bike, it was in his heart. He was instrumental in ABATE of Northern Illinois serving as President and Vice President. Truck joined a local Motorcycle Club, Creed MC in 2005 and was still an active member and President. Creed MC has flourished under his guidance. He was diplomatic, kind, fair and huge hearted. He could always be found with a smile on his face and a warm greeting to friends. Truck loved dogs, never missing a chance to slip a potato chip to a grateful canine! Truck developed a fondness for Rottweilers, “Woofies” as he called them. His life would not have been complete without his furry friends, particularly Damian and Thor.
Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 3pm to 12am, Creed MC will hold a memorial benefit for his medical expenses at 1222 W. Rollins Road, Round Lake Heights, IL for family and friends. A Service will be held at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL from 4pm – 7pm on November 10, 2018. Please come share a story about Robert “Truck” Hombaker II, our memories are our most fitting tribute.
