Obituary of Frank Hebner

Frank Edward Hebner, 71, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed peacefully on August 3, 2018 at home surrounded by family after three bouts of Lymphoma and a final diagnosis of treatment-related Leukemia.

Frank was born February 27, 1947 in Pontiac, MI. He married Deborah Houge in 1976 in Albert Lea, MN. Frank served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in Germany from 1966-1968. He was proud of his service and had a lot of stories to share. After his military service, he moved to Rochester, MN where he attended vocational school for mechanical drafting. He worked for Scotsman Ice Systems for over 40 years, first in Albert Lea, MN, then moving with the company to Illinois in 1989. He worked in various positions with the company and finally as a regional sales manager. He was fortunate to be able to travel to many parts of the world for his job and also had many memorable family vacations. Frank was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha. He greatly enjoyed owning and working on classic cars, particularly Mustangs. He also had the ability to fix almost anything and liked having projects around the house to work on. He played guitar in a country rock band in his 30's and continued playing his whole life. He was an avid music and memorabilia collector, especially anything pertaining to Waylon Jennings, Elvis or the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed his guns and shooting at the gun range, reading and some woodworking. Frank had an interest in genealogy and did extensive research on his family tree, also helping others with theirs. He had a great sense of humor and remembered so many detailed stories from the past. In the last couple of years he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels. Frank was a strong, devoted husband and father. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.
