Obituary of Elizabeth Robbie Terry
Elizabeth Robbie Terry was born into time on October 24, 1939; to the lineage of the late Robert L. Morris and Mildred E. Blassingame Morris in New Madrid, Missouri. She was the oldest of seven children.
“Liz” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of Hyde Park High School of Chicago, IL.
“Liz” was united in Holy matrimony to Jerome Childress. To this union they were blessed with one daughter named Rhonda. She later married Otha T. Terry and together they raised two beautiful children, Rhonda and Dwight. Otha preceded her in death in April 2000.
Elizabeth was very family oriented and became a foster care parent because she truly enjoyed helping those who were in need. “Liz” owned her own cleaning service. It was because of her love of crafts that she designed wedding bouquets and flower arrangements for special occasions especially for different churches and church programs. “Liz” was a member of First Baptist Church of West Helena and she was also active in local politics. In later years she worked for and retired from Wal-Mart in West Helena, Arkansas.
After retirement, Elizabeth’s health began to decline; she relocated to Illinois to receive the best healthcare and family support. It was at that time “Liz” became a member of Thomas Memorial AME Church in Zion, IL, under the pastorate of Reverent Marie Bryant.
On Thursday, July 5, 2018, the book containing the record of the life of Elizabeth Robbie Terry was sealed with her birth into eternal glory; leaving fond memories in the hearts of her daughter; Rhonda, son; Dwight, four grandchildren: Marisha, Deniis, Isaiah, Crystal, seven great-grandchildren, precious sisters: Barbara, Lillie, Phyllis, Rayleen and Sheila (sister Diane preceded her in death), beloved brother: Raymond, one uncle: LC Sharp, her best friends: Marilyn Kountz and a host of other relatives and friends.
