Obituary of Henry James Wiedner

Henry James (Jim) Wiedner, 86, of Zion, IL passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Vista East in Waukegan, Illinois.

Henry was born in Clinton, IA on November 17, 1931 to the late Henry and Bertha (nee Caslavka) Wiedner.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he attended Loras College earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

Henry married the late Audrey Mae Johnson on May 5, 1956 and were married for 55 years before her passing in 2011.  He was very active within the community of Zion where he served as Zion Park District Commissioner, Kiwanis President, Lion’s Club member, Volunteer of the Year, City of Zion, and Father of the Year, City of Zion.  He was also a very active member at Our Lady of Humility where he served on the school board, church choir, volunteer and Lector.  He was an avid fan of musical theater as a participant and often attended shows.

He is survived by his children, Janel (West) Jacobs, Lisa (Al) Chiappetta, Mike (Asiya) Wiedner, Therese Andrew and Amy (Ray) Jordan.  Grandchildren, Sarah Chiappetta, Brian (Corrine) Andrew, Adam (Tiffany) Chiappetta, Lynette Chiappetta, Amanda Andrew, Courtney Jacobs, Geoffrey Jordan and Kenna Jordan.  Great Grandchildren, Kelly, Dominic, Lana, Xavier, Zaiden and Chloe.  He is proceeded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha Wiedner, wife, Audrey, son, Patrick, sister, Mary Sutherlin and grandsons, Brandon and Kyle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Henry on Monday July 9, 2018 at Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd. Beach Park, IL at 11:00 a.m.. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass. Interment will be private at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
