Obituary of Barbara Jane Reid

Barbara J. Reid, age 94, of Zion, IL, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away on Saturday May 19, 2018 at her sons home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Chicago, IL on March 1, 1924, the daughter of the late John Huemann and Helen Levak. She was educated in the schools of Chicago and later attended the Fox Business and Secretarial College.  On March 2nd, 1946 she married George Reid in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and later with other companies until her retirement.  Barb loved crocheting, traveling and spending lots of time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving Barbara are her son, William (Margaret) Reid of Zion, IL, seven grandchildren; William (Jennifer), Kelly (Ryan) Reid/Krueger, James Reid, Helen (Timothy) Gondek, Michael (Gretchen) Reid, Margaret (Daniel) Bednarczyk and Laura (Cody) Wynn. She is further survived by twelve great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Custer.

A visitation will be held for Barbara on Wednesday May 23rd at the Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, from 5-7 p.m..  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday May 24th at Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church 10655 West Wadsworth Rd. Zion at 9:30 a.m.. Please meet at the church for mass.  Interment will be held in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
