My sincere condolences to the family. I met Jerry in 1967, when I started working for Dick Thacker at Thacker Engineers & Surveyors. Jerry was kind of like an informal mentor to me. Always ready with excellent advice, when asked. Although he left Thacker, before I got my license, I valued his friendship enough that he was the first person I called when I passed the exam and attained my Illinois Professional Land Surveyor License and the first person I called when I started my own Land Surveying firm in 1985. Jerry was the epitome of professionalism. Never 'cutting corners', always completing the task in a timely and satisfactory manner. Unfortunately, I didn't find out about his passing until this morning, the day of his funeral, so I am unable to attend. Again, my condolences to the family.
