I'm so sorry to learn of Woody's passing. We had many wonderful chats in past years. His knowledge of vinyl was encyclopedic. He was always in good spirits even when we haggled over the price of an album or two. And I often came away with an education of the bands and the LP's he was buying. Next time I put on the turntable I'll remember of you.

I have known Woody and Karin for almost 40 years. I met Woody when he began visiting my record shop back in the days when people purchased vinyl. We became good friends and enjoyed some great times together. We shared a common bond not only with our music, but other important matters within our shared lifetime. Woody understood and objected to the senseless rich mans' profiteering wars from Viet Nam to date, he was mindful of social injustice, racial inequality and plight of the poor and less fortunate in our society. Whether he was hanging out at my record store, or helping me out selling on the road at record conventions, or just striking up a conversation with a stranger, one of his many qualities I witnessed was that he often exhibited a nonresistance attitude that included...he knew to look for the extraordinary in people, he was comfortable in not always knowing and he was okay with letting others be right most of the time. Woody knew how to build bridges between people, not walls. I learned much from Woody. Often times he didn't have much to say, but there were those amazing moments he would say one of his intensive one liners that would blow my mind! Along with his concerns he had a big heart and a very caring manner. Peace and equality, Woody took both very seriously. Woody was clearly a man of conscience and conveyed the genuine qualities that measure and define a man who is of true "character". I will always be thankful and grateful for the moments we shared and the wisdom I gained from knowing Woody. Thank you for being part of my life Woody, I give you my word that I will endeavor to continue the activism and struggles for what we mutually believed in. Peace Bro

It was a pleasure being Woody's home health care nurse for so long. I was always treated like family. I will definitely miss his smile, sense of humor, zest for life, and stories. He was an eternal dreamer with a beautiful soul.

Couldn't go to sleep last night after hearing of Woody's passing. Kept remembering all the good days we had together. Starting with the day in the summer of 1967 I picked up a hitchhiker. Many parties, concerts, holidays and family events over the next 40+ years. Whenever I was bored or lonely I would call Woody and we would spend the day together. Going to record stores, a train show, garage sale or flea market. Looking for that "hard to find" LP, box car/locomotive or knickknack for one of his collections.
I miss him and am heartbroken.

I only recently met Woody a short time ago, under less than desirable circumstance - but knew instantly he was a Sage Soul. I light this candle in memoriam to represent all that he has given & meant to those who's lives he has touched - may his spirit abide with you and his essence burn forever bright in your hearts & minds and light your ways.
