Obituary of Eunice Dobnikar

Eunice Thelma Dobnikar “Grams” passed away peacefully at her Waukegan, Illinois home on January 22, 2018. Eunice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a former employee of Pfanstiehl Laboratories.  Born in Hayward, WI to the late John and Maude (Sanders) Anderson, she met the love of her life, Michael William Dobnikar, while working as a receptionist at a doctor’s office. Their “love at first site” relationship was an inspiration to all those who knew them. They settled in Waukegan shortly after marrying and were blessed with two amazing sons, Boyd Allen (Gigi) and Roger William. 

She loved playing cards, going fishing, gardening and collecting knickknacks. During her 95 years of life we all learned many valuable lessons from her, but nothing more important than loving your friends and family while always respecting others. She fulfilled her last wish of living in the dwelling her amazing husband built for her until she was once again reunited with him. As she always said, “he built me a house, but together we made it a home”.

She leaves behind one sister Eleanor, one sister in law Edith, two sons Roger and Boyd, three grandchildren Roger (Julie), Regina (Dave), and Michael (Dawn), four great-grandchildren, Collin, Kendall, Antonia, and Austin as well as a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by brothers and sisters Clinton, Ethel, Myrtle and Edna. 

Visitation will be Sunday at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, Illinois from 4pm -7pm and Monday from 9am-10am immediately followed by a service reflecting upon her life. Following the service at Congdon Funeral Home a short service will be performed at Highland Memorial Cemetery with a luncheon to immediately follow at the Zion Benton Moose Lodge. 
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation in her name be made to the charity of your choice.
