Obituary of Daniel W. Mallek

Daniel Walter Mallek, 82, of Pleasant Prairie, WI went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2018.

Daniel was born October 20, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Walter and Cecelia Mallek.  He grew up in Chicago, was a long time resident of Waukegan, and lived in Pleasant Prairie, WI. On June 19, 1956, he married Patricia Ann Holz.  Daniel attended Gracepoint Church in Mundelein, IL and worked at AMC/Chrysler for 30 years.  He served his country in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean Conflict, and also served several years as a volunteer for Boy Scouts of America.

Dan was lovingly devoted to his wife and family.  He was a long time member of Wesley Free Methodist Church in Waukegan, IL where he volunteered  countless hours.  Dan spent many joyful moments at Sky Lodge Christian Camp in Montello, WI.  Additional, Dan loved fishing, gardening, cooking, wood working, and just being with people. Dan had a knack for seeing a need and generously meeting it.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann; children, Steve (Linda) Mallek, Daniel (Linda) Mallek Jr., John (Kathie) Mallek and Sheila (Steve) Schostok; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margret Kotur.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00, and on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m.  Pastor John Ramer officiating.  Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sky Lodge Christian Camp, N4855 Cty Rd Y, Montello, WI 53949 in Daniel’s name.
