Obituary of Betty Lea Humphries

Betty Lea Humphries, age 81 of Zion, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Vista Health Care Center.

She was born on March 1, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of the late Frank and Laura Millard Svacina. Betty was educated in the schools of Clinton, Iowa and following graduation she went on to college and graduated with a degree in education. 

She moved to Zion, IL  following her graduation and met O’Neal Humphries. On June 8, 1957 they were united in marriage.  Betty was employed with the Zion School district as a teacher, substitute and librarian for over 23 years.

She loved taking cruises and traveling to different ports of the world and spending time with her grandchildren and her pets.

Surviving Betty are two children; Gary (Wendy) and Sherry Humphries, two grandchildren; Kale and Griffin, her dog Fiona and her cat Joey. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband O’Neal.

A private graveside service was held at PineView Memorial Park Cemetery.
