Obituary of Roberta Wilma Parker
On Saturday, October 28, 2017, Roberta Wilma Parker went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Born May 18, 1923 in Corbin, KY, she was one of five children to parents Robert and Georgia Horton. Motivated at an early age to overcome extreme poverty of the Great Depression, she relocated to the Midwest and eventually settled in Waukegan IL where she married Nelson Parker and raised her three children---Jackie, Donna and Steven.
In recent years she resided at Barton House in Zion, and Winchester House in Libertyville. She will always be remembered for her ability to overcome adversity and her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, which she continually shared with everyone in her life up to the very end. Roberta was predeceased by her husband and four siblings, and is survived by her three children, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
On Tuesday, October 31, a visitation will be held from 10am to 11am at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion, IL, followed by a memorial service from 11am to noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moody Bible Institute or Inner City Impact.
