Obituary of Kathryn Paul

Kathryn "Katie" Paul, 93, of Gurnee, IL and a longtime resident of Zion, IL, died on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Katie was born January 10, 1919 in Zion. She graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1935 and began her career as a secretary at Great Lakes prior to WWII. She was happily married to the late John Paul for 57 years. She retired after many years of service at WZBN Radio which later became WNIB Radio in Zion. She was a life-long active member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School pianist. She was Past President and officer of Zion Women's Club, Past Secretary of Navy League, was a member of and active in Zion Historical Society, served for many years on Zion Jubilee Day's Committee, and was on the Board of the Lake County Community Concert Association. She and her husband (the late John) were honored recipients of the Zion Exchange Club Golden Deeds Award. She was an avid bowler, golfer, poetry writer, and lover of cats. Survivors include her daughter Dr. Deborah (Jim Siefken) Paul of Gurnee, IL; and one sister Dorothy (Heinz) Wernecke of Southfield, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband John; her son Timothy; and her father and mother Burr and Frances Robinson. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2012, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Kwadwo Ntim officiating.
