Obituary of Carla Jo Gross

Carla Jo Gross (nee Grubbs) 75, of North Chicago, was called home to be with the Lord on September 23, 2017.  She was born at Arjay (Pineville), KY on June 5, 1942 to Allen G. Grubbs and Bessie M. (Frye) Grubbs.

She worshipfully loved our Lord Jesus, constantly studied the Bible and was well-versed in God's word.  She was a member of Spirit of Life Church, Zion and also greatly enjoyed listening to Pastor Jimmy Swaggart. Carla had worked as a legal secretary and real estate agent but more than anything delighted in her role as wife, mother and homemaker.

Carla is survived by her beloved son, Earl G. Gross, Jr. and adored granddaughter Adeline Kenzie Gross; sisters Mary G. Norvell (the late Roy Sr.) and Glenna M. Miller (the late Joseph E.); sister-in-law Virginia Grubbs and many more loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will dearly miss her.

Loved ones waiting to greet her in heaven are father, Allen; mother, Bessie; husband Earl G. Gross, Sr.; brothers, Charles (Loretta); Phil; Custer Ray; William Sr. (Avonell); Arnold (Wilma); sisters, Florence (Marvin) Brown; Ellen (Charles) Miller; Hollie (Sillus) Collette; husband Philip Mitchell and a host of loving extended family members including infant brothers Philip Lee, Allen Mathis, Marvin Howard, Paul Curtis and Lonnie David.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion and will continue on Monday, October 2nd at The Spirit of Life Church, 1222 Lorelei Dr., Zion, from 9:00 a.m until time of service at 10:00 a.m., with Brother Mark Granger officiating.
