Obituary of Joanne Green

The Lord called home Joanne Green (Stark) on September 21, 2017 after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was surrounded by family who were devotedly at her side until her last breath.

She was born to Myron and Elaine Stark on May 21, 1955. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, and loving in-laws, Hershel and Joyce Green, infant daughter, Christy Ann, and brothers Bob and Tim Stark.

Joanne was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Christian faith and accepted Christ as her Savior at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. It was there that she married her husband and raised her three sons in God’s loving grace. Throughout her life she continued to faithfully serve as a member of the Our Saviors Ladies and Alter Guild, Sunday school teacher and chime choir.

Joanne worked for over 25 years at Abbott Laboratories, helping customers and spreading joy among her colleagues. She enjoyed caring for her horses, gardening, crafting, and quilting. But most of all, she cherished her time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her soft, gentle spirit, calming presence, and her unconditional compassion for others. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and a tender soul to others.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ron, her three boys, Michael (Denise), Brian (Shari), and Jonathan (Stephanie); grandchildren, Kylie, Alex, Morgan, Alex, Shawn, Arilyn, and Elizabeth; siblings Jim (Karen) Stark, Jerry (Cathy) Stark, and Lori (John) Tedesco; brother-in-law, Rick (Sherry) Green, sister-in-law, Kit Stark, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1800 23rd Street, Zion, IL, with Pastor Jack Kelly, officiating. A visitation will take place at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Our Saviors Lutheran Church and School.
