She later attended Immaculate Conception grade school, and then graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1943. At the USO she met her future husband, Eugene, who was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Station. They were married in 1945 at Immaculate Conception Church, and were together for 61 years until his death in 2006. She was an active member in her church, including the Alter and Rosary Society and Christian Family Movement. She volunteered for many charities including St Jude's Children’s Hospital, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Besides her thorough enjoyment of cooking and baking for her family, she especially loved flowers, and her rose garden was her pride and joy. She also was a talented seamstress and made most of her and her children's clothes. Her whole life was devoted to her husband; raising and nurturing her 8 children while always showing the gift of hospitality by hosting gatherings for family and friends. Her house was filled with love an laughter.
