Obituary of Dorothy K. Peterson

Dorothy K. Peterson, 97, of Zion, IL died on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at home.

She was born November 15, 1919 in Walnut Grove, MN and has lived in Zion for the past 50 years.  She was a member of Christ Community Church of Zion.  Dorothy retired as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) from Highland Park Hospital.  She was an avid sports fan and a die hard Cubs fan.

Survivors include daughter Julie (David McCray Sr.) Peterson of Zion; daughter-in-law Pam Atkinson of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren Colin McCray, Caitlin McCray, Andy (Kim) Peterson and Elizabeth (John) Melis; granddaughter-in-law Debbie McCray; eight great-grandchildren David III, Stephen, Megan (Brian), Nathan, Miranda, Ryan, Jillian, and Hannah; and one great-great-granddaughter Emma.

She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Peterson; son Jack Peterson; grandson David McCray Jr.; and one sister Geraldine Burnes (and the late Donald Burnes).

Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2017, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.  A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
