Obituary of Edwin Miner Jr.

Edwin Lewis Miner Jr., 89, of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed away peacefully on July 1, 2017 at home, surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born April 12, 1928 in Waukegan, IL.  He graduated from Waukegan High School in 1946.  Edwin served in the United States Army and was deployed during the Korean War.  He married Helen Bauroth on January 12, 1957 in Winthrop Harbor, IL.  Edwin worked for Reed Randle Ford starting in high school, returning after serving in Korea, and retiring in 1983 as a certified Service Technician.  Edwin was a lifetime member of the North Chicago American Legion Post 0397.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; daughters Tamara Kreigh of Nashville, TN, and Cynthia (Stephen) Rioux of Winthrop Harbor, IL; granddaughters Helene Kreigh of Nashville, TN, and Megan Rioux of Winthrop Harbor, IL; and one sister Phyllis (James) Chapin of Elgin, IL.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lily and Edwin Lewis Miner Sr.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 5000 9th St, Winthrop Harbor, IL 60099.  A funeral service will begin a 4:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Miguel Nieves, officiating.  Interment services will take place on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Vista Hospice would be appreciated.
