Obituary of Dorothy Klawonn
Dorothy Klawonn, 75, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died June 15, 2017 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 15, 1942 in North Chicago, IL and graduated from North Chicago High School in 1961. She married Raymond Klawonn October 10, 1964 at Holy Family Catholic Church in North Chicago. Dorothy was a devout catholic and an active member at Our Lady of Humility Church, Beach Park, IL where she was a member of mother’s club, women’s club and worked bingo. She was a bus driver for Zion Benton Township High School for 30 years and ran the school lunch program at Our Lady of Humility Church for over 25 years. She was also a member of the women of the moose and the red hat society. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, camping, cooking, birdwatching, and most of all, spoiling her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Raymond; children, Raymond “Scott” (Brandee) of Charleston, IL, Casey (Tatiana) of Zion, IL, Kary (Michelle Holden) of Beach Park, IL, and Janel (Jack) Bernal of Victorville, CA; grandchildren, Drew Klawonn, Brooke Bernal, and a grandson on the way; sister-in-law, Karen Budd of Alexandria VA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Kelly; daughter, Donette; siblings, Rebecca Fout and Vic Gnorski; parents, Victor and Helen Gnorski; and nephew, “Big” John Gnorski.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, and again Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
