Obituary of John McDowell

John “Jack” L. McDowell, 88, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 2, 2017.

Jack was born in Kenosha, WI to the late Lloyd and Jennie McDowell on February 27, 1929.  He then moved to Zion, IL in 1942.  He graduated from ZBTHS with the class of 1946.  He served in the United States Navy.  He then went to Valparaiso Indiana University where he graduated with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He was employed for 18 years as a Production Engineer at Warwick Electronics in Zion, IL, and 18 years as a Senior Project Design Engineer for General Motors-Electromotive Division in LaGrange, IL.  Jack enjoyed square and line dancing, fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 66 ½ years, Lorraine (nee Perington) McDowell; daughter Lynette (Henry) Henriksen of Kenosha, WI; son Dennis McDowell of Crystal Lake, IL; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousin, and other relatives and friends.
