Obituary of Barbara D. Ricard

Barbara D. Ricard, 88, of Zion, IL passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017.

Barbara was born on August 23, 1928 in Zion, IL to Elmer and Ruth Stried.  On May 18, 1947, she married Homer Ricard Jr. in Waukegan, IL.  She graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 1946, and was a member of Grace Missionary Church.  Barbara worked for the Zion-Benton School District for 20+ years as a cashier.  She also played saxophone for the Zion Concert Band and Antioch Concert Band. 

Survivors include her daughters, Jane (Richard) Johnston of Northglen, CO, Shirley Hinz of Bradenton, FL, and Sherry Paolucci of Livonia, MI; 4 grandchildren, Kris (Steve) Gustafson, Jeff (Nila) Johnston, Brian (Erin) Hinz and Paul Hinz; 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL.  A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Carlson officiating.  Interment will be at Mt Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.  Memorial donations to Grace Missionary Church have been suggested.
