Obituary of Cheryl Lynn Austin

Cheryl Lynn Austin, 61, of Zion, IL died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Vista Medical East in Waukegan, IL. She was born November 2, 1955 in Portsmouth, OH. She married John W. Austin Jr. on November 17, 1973 in Ohio. Cheryl worked at Zion Benton Township High School for over 25 years and loved working with the staff and students; the high school was her favorite get-away. She was considered the second mom to many of her children’s friends. She enjoyed yard work, her grandchildren, drama reality tv, cooking, and baking. Cheryl is the strongest person her family knows and truly has been the foundation of her family. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, John W. Austin Jr.; children, John W. (Tricia) Austin III of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Kristina Austin of Kenosha, WI; three grandchildren, Marceous, Marcese, and Alyssa; mother, Shirley Joyce of Portsmouth, OH; siblings, Scott (Dawn) Joyce, Richard Joyce and Penny Murta; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and John Bailey. Services will be for family and friends on Saturday April 1st from 5pm-630pm at The Well Church 9001 17th Ave. Kenosha, WI. Immediately following, Stonecreek (Winthrop Harbor) has reserved the patio for dinner and cocktails to anyone who would like to come.
