Obituary of Tomasa Alfaro

Tomasa Alfaro, 88, passed away January 31, 2017 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Jesus and Pilar Cavazos De LaRosa May 8, 1928 in Edna TX. Tomasa married the late Santos Alfaro on January 20, 1947 in Houston TX. Tomasa’s biggest passion in life was her family. She found great joy in cooking for her family and enjoyed the time spent with each and every one of them. Every year Tomasa would call each of her children and grandchildren singing “Happy Birthday” to them, something they looked forward to and will greatly miss. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Santos Alfaro; son, Serafin Alfaro; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters. Survivors include 8 children, Ramon (Carmen) Alfaro, Margarita Perez, Rosa (Alberto) Rivera, Edward (Cathy) Alfaro, Esther Alfaro, Jesse (Sandy) Alfaro, Rita (Gary) Harvey, and Cecilia Alfaro; 23 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will take place Friday, February 3, 2017 from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Zion, IL. A funeral mass will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
