Obituary of Chris Ritzert

Chris Ritzert, 49, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died November 14, 2016 at The Grove at the Lake Nursing Home in Zion, IL. Chris was born August 23, 1967 in Chicago, IL. He grew up in Rogers Park and moved to Winthrop Harbor in 1992. He graduated class of 1985 from Notre Dame High School in Niles, IL then went to trade school to become an electrician. After working for other electricians, he opened Harbor Electric in Winthrop Harbor. Chris loved airplanes, Hawaii, gardening, camping, fires, fireworks, and having family and friends around him. Survivors include his wife of 14 years and sweetheart of 32 years, Julie; son, Christopher Ritzert of Winthrop Harbor; and mother, Sharon Ritzert of Chicago, currently living in Zion. He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Ritzert; grand parents, Kent and Helen Gagen; uncle, Bill Gagen; and dear friend, Kevin Dillon. A visitation will take place Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private for the family. Memorial donations to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) aspca.com.
