Obituary of Evelyn Krogman
Evelyn Krogman (nee Kalinowski), 101, of Waukegan, IL died April 7, 2016 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
Evelyn was born October 3, 1914 in North Chicago, IL. She attended Holy Rosary Grammar School and Waukegan Township High School. Evelyn married Francis J. Krogman in 1940 and then moved to Waukegan. She worked for VR Wesson in Waukegan and during WWII, she worked at Johnson Motors. She enjoyed baking, birdwatching and being with her grandchildren. “Grammy” as she was always called by all, was a fixture at all her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She was a tireless caregiver and chauffeur to the grandchildren as well. Her canine “grandchildren” always watched her hands when she visited finding a treat every time.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Strane of Beach Park, IL, Marion (Kenneth) Van Bergen of Wadsworth, IL, and Charles Krogman of Rockford, IL; 6 grandchildren, James Strane Jr., Brian Strane, Christopher (Elizabeth) Van Bergen, Amy Van Bergen, Matthew (Janet) Van Bergen, and Margaret (Erik) Feinendegen; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Joseph and Chester Kalinowski.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; parents, Isadore and Margaret Kalinowski; sisters, Rose Draves and infant sister, Florence; and brother, Adam.
A special thank you to the staff at Rolling Hills Manor for excellent care and affection given to “Grandma.”
