Obituary of Elizabeth "Pauline" Nelson

Elizabeth “Pauline” Nelson (nee Gieske), 95, of Zion, IL passed away January 15, 2016 at Journey Care Hospice in Woodstock, IL. Pauline was born October 15, 1920 in Peoria, IL. She retired from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and was a long time member of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park. Pauline and her late husband Walter were long time volunteers for Meals on Wheels. She was passionate about the ASPCA and Save-A-Pet, and always had a strong bond with her dogs. She is survived by her step-daughters Patricia (Don) Anderson, Kathleen (John) Wurth, and Cheryl Steinhebel; 4 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Nelson; and her mother and step-father. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley, IL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
