Obituary of Joan Patricia Thompson

Joan Patricia Thompson, 83, of Zion, IL died December 24, 2015 at home with her family by her side. Pat was born June 7, 1932 in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Amundsen High School in Chicago, and attended Northern Illinois University where she was part of the Kappa Delta sorority. Pat married LeRoy Thompson in 1954. She was a former member of Lakeview Church in Zion and a current member of Christ Community Church in Zion, where she used to teach Sunday School to kids between two and three years old with LeRoy. She was very active with the Zion Senior Group and enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises. Pat is survived by her husband, LeRoy Thompson; children, Lee (Pam) Thompson; grandchildren, Corey Thompson and Mindy (Michael) Meyer; two great-grandchildren, Molly and Maddox Meyer; and cousin, Dr. Wilbur Hillman. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Thompson; and parents, Roy and Maybelle Hillman. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will be held later at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Camp Zion would be appreciated.
