Ernie was a very important part of our lives. He was such an accomplished man and we admired him for all of his talents. He helped us in so many different areas, like coming to Canada and teaching the campers about nature, fishing, camping, etc. He helped with a golf swing, an ice skating exhibition in Tucson, AZ, and just plain good conversation. We will miss him.

Mr. Gilroy was my 7th grade teacher at Fox Lake Grade School 1954-1955. He was the first male teacher for all of us, and we knew he meant business! He was a great teacher under some difficult circumstances. Our school was overcrowded, and we went on a split shift, a morning class and an afternoon class, which meant long hours for the teachers. But in spite of that, he got the job done.
It's nice to see he led such a long, productive life, spending many years with sports activities.

Mr Gilroy was a great teacher! I'll never forget the "gilroy grip" he used on boys that were out of line. My condolences to his family and friends!

Mr. Gilroy was my 5th grade teacher at Washington Elementary in Waukegan in 1972. I adored him! He was fun and involved and tough; the boys got the "Gilroy Grip" for misbehaving. Glad to hear he lived such a long and busy life. My condolences to the family.
