Obituary of Joyce McCleary

Joyce McCleary (nee Benton), 85, of Zion, IL passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, WI. She was born February 7, 1930 in Zion. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Zion. Joyce was an active member of Zion-Benton Women of the Moose, Chapter# 859. She will be remembered as a loving and friendly woman of strength and principle, who loved her family. Her sweet, joyful, and inspiring spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Survivors include her husband of 66 years Willie; children Debra (Ed) Gross of Wales, WI, Denise Birky of Winthrop Harbor, IL, David (Diane) McCleary of Waukegan, IL, Darcelle (Larry) Krause of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and DeAnn (Scot) Oglesby of Winthrop Harbor, IL; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister Lynda (Bill) Anderson of Park City, IL; and a sister-in-law Marilyn Benton of Devon, PA. She was preceded in death by two brothers William and Frederick Benton; and her parents Frederick and Esther Benton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Visitations will be Sunday, August 9th, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, where the Women of the Moose will conduct the Ritual Service at 7:00 p.m., and again on Monday, August 10th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Memorial donations to Hospice Alliance, Pleasant Prairie, WI, have been suggested.
