Obituary of Ira Jay Krause

Ira Jay Krause, 86, of Zion, IL died June 28, 2015 with his friends and family by his side. Ira Jay Krause EOM was born on October 27, 1928 in Lackawanna, NY to Cortland Luther Krause and Ruth Alice Ames Krause. After graduating from high school, he served in the Navy Reserves and the U.S. Army, before attending and graduating from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Pharmacy. He worked in research for Abbott Laboratories, where he met Maxine Storey; they married on June 21, 1958 in Zion, Illinois. She was his loving wife for 54 years until her death on June 2, 2012. Ira also worked as a retail pharmacist and for the Veteran's Administration as a hospital pharmacist. He is survived by his brother Arthur and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine; brothers Cortland Jr. And William. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Camp Zion would be appreciated.
