Obituary of Florence "Flo" Dorothy Matson

Florence Dorothy "Flo" Matson (nee Volmary), 89, of Waukegan, IL, died on Thursday, May 6, 2015, at Claridge Healthcare Center, in Lake Bluff, IL. She was born February 4, 1926, in Waukegan and was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan where she loved singing in the church choir. Flo was formerly employed for Poe and Poe Realtors and Dan Miller Motors. Flo was a loving mother to Susan (David) Johansen of Hartland, WI, and John Matson of Zion, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brenda Johansen, Alan (Laurie) Johansen, and Melicia (Brad) Jones; and six great-grandchildren, Hayley, Joseph, McKayla, Austin and Rylee Jones, and Emma Johansen. Flo was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Matson; son, H. Brian Matson; brother, Tom Volmary; and sisters, Josephine Moyes and Cora Wiatrowski. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 122 N. Martin Luther King Dr., Waukegan. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Music Department of First Presbyterian Church.
