Obituary of Thelma Newborn

Thelma “Sally” Newborn, 77, of Winthrop Harbor, IL died on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion. She was born April 13, 1938 in Bexar, AL and came to this area in 1952. She was currently a member of New Song Ministries of Zion and formerly was a longtime and founding member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of North Chicago. Survivors include children Glenn Newborn and Lynn Newborn both of Winthrop Harbor, IL, John (Patricia) Newborn of Milwaukee, WI, and Sally Deanne (Robert) Kight of Zion, IL; eleven grandchildren Beth Newborn, Jeanne Sydock, Ryan Newborn, Maureen Newborn, Jacob Newborn, Joshua Newborn, Alexis Kight, Naomi Kight, Lilyan Kight, Michael Kight, and Jay Kight; two great-grandchildren Sofia and Luca Sydock; and siblings Lula (James) Fawcett of Hamilton, AL, Hettie (David) Mobley of Fairview, MS, and Linda King of Winthrop Harbor, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2007; and her parents William and Edna King. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7th, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Willow Lawn Cemetery, Mundelein, IL. Memorial donations to New Song Ministries, Zion, IL have been suggested.
