Obituary of MaryAnn Guenther

Mary Ann "Granny" Guenther, 74, of Waukegan, IL died on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. She was born November 12, 1937 in Hurley, WI. Her family had a long history as members of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukegan. Mary Ann worked as a Supervisor at Ann Kiley Center in Waukegan for 17 years and later did in home health care in private homes in the area. Survivors include children Diane Massimo of Waukegan, IL, Paula (Douglas) O'Brien of Waukegan, IL, Julie Zupec of Pottet, TX, and Jeff (Christi) Zupec of Clermont, FL; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister Norma Niemi (Cliff) Lundstrom of Kenosha, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; one daughter Jill Zupec; a grandson Michael O'Brien; and her father Arvo Johnson; and her mother and step-father Ellen and Einar Niemi. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeffrey Koth of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
