Obituary of Jeremy Justin Grimes

Jeremy Justin Grimes, 33, took his first steps and spoke his first words March 30, 2015. He left his wheelchair and earthly afflictions of this life for his new home in heaven. He was born February 6, 1982, in Waukegan, Illinois. He attended the SEDOL programs from 3 months old and spent 11 years at Laremont School in Gages Lake and 4 years at Grayslake HIgh School, graduating in 2001. After 2 years in a transition program, he then began work at NorthPointe Resources, Inc. in Zion through the present. He will be remembered for his big contagious smile and positive attitude that he showed daily. He brought love and joy to everyone he came in contact with. Jeremy is survived by his parents Larry and Debbie Grimes of Winthrop Harbor, IL; brothers, Kyle and Josh Grimes of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Rob Grimes of Camanche, Iowa; grandfather Shelton Grimes of Russellville, Alabama; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jeremy was preceded in death by grandmother, Virginia Grimes, grandparents,William and Marion Strean; aunt and uncle, Linda and Larry Strean; and his best friend Wendell "Ray" Swift. Special thanks to the many wonderful, caring people at SEDOL and NorthPointe Resources with a special thank you to Jeremy’s devoted one-on-ones Carol Martin and Tina Griffith. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at North Point Community Church, 900 N. Lewis Ave., Winthrop Harbor, IL, and again on Friday, April 3, 2015, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tim Bycroft, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NorthPointe Resources, Inc. in Zion, Illinois.
