How sad I was to learn of Mavis' passing. She was such a beautiful and unique person who was a role model for all who knew her. Her photo brought back so many memories of fun times together at ZBTHS. I look forward to joining her one day in our new heavenly lives and sharing some of those fun stories once again. Prayers for her family and all those who love and will miss her.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mavis. She was such a good friend to me as a new student at Zion Benton. What fun we had at pajama parties, dancing in the gym and watching her smile and her laughter. She was such a beautiful person inside and out and I know she will be greatly missed. Our prayers go out to her family. Love you Mavis

Mavis was my very best friend from 7 th grade, after we got to know each other in the summer of 1956 and remained my friend to the end. How I hate to have to remove her from my 56 year old Christmas card list. I always loved to write her a note of what had happened in the past year and sometimes I was fortunate to hear back from her through her sister Nelda. I remember thinking how beautiful Mavis was the first time I saw her at the park in Zion on the merry-go-round her hair blowing in the whirl as she went around and around and that smile that never ended. It was at that point that I knew we would become good friends. I loved going to her house and seeing her Mom and Dad who were older parents and I could tell they loved her so much. There were always older brothers and sisters in the house and I loved being there watching the family together, wishing I had older brothers and sisters. I knew Nelda, Shirley and Jerry and loved all of them. I was so sad when Mavis started having her health problems and praying to God to tell me why this was happening to such a fun life loving person. My prayers and Blessing go out to her family at this difficult time. Mavis I never forgot you and will meet you again in heaven and we can still be best friends. May your family find peace in their hearts knowing you are an angel watching over them from above. God Bless all. Love, Toni

I remember our 25th class reunion, the first I had attended, Mavis was the first and I think the only one who recognized me before I told who I was. She was excited to see me after all those years too. At the banquet/dance I remember her being whirled around the dance floor by I think, Marvin Stried. What a smile she had on her face. A precious moment. Thank you Nelda and all your wonderful family for taking such great care of her for so many years. Marilyn

To the beautiful Mavis, to her beautiful smile, her beautiful long, wavy hair, the wonderful growing up good times, learning how to dance to the new rock and roll era, pajama parties, all the new and fun experiences we had starting in the Junior High years, and a good friend ever since. May you rest in peace. With Love, Donna (Harlow) Ponzio
