Obituary of Raymond Herrera
Raymond "Ray" Herrera, 67, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 6, 2012.
Ray was born March 15, 1945, in Havana, Cuba, and married Judith Erickson on November 12, 1968, in Waukegan, IL. He was a member of Wesley Church, in Waukegan. Ray was a retired carpet installer who spent his retirement years working as a cashier for Wal-Mart.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Judy; children, Elizabeth (Joe) Mendoza of Racine, WI, Laura (Leon) Marsceau of Salem, WI, Edward (Deena) Herrera of Zion, IL, and Kathryn (Bill) Stromberg of Roseville, CA; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Joe Mendoza, Amy Mendoza, Michael Mendoza, Danny Mendoza, Amanda Marsceau, Justin Marsceau, and Clara Stromberg; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Herrera.
Ray volunteered at Lake County PADS for over 15 years; he had a servant's heart and spread joy wherever he went. His loving, generous presence will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. at Wesley Church, 3601 N. Lewis Ave., Waukegan, IL. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Lake County Pads have been suggested.
