Obituary of Janis Chalfant

Janis Lea Chalfant formerly Janis Lea Thompson, was born Aug 15, 1927 in Spruce, Missouri. She passed away Feb. 13, 2011 at the Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Zion, IL. Janis resided for the last 58 years in Bonnie Brook in Waukegan. Before that she lived in Beach Park and attended Zion Township High School. Her parents were Clarence and Alma Thompson. Janis loved to play golf and bridge and more recently loved reading and gardening in her yard. She attended Knox College and worked for many years as a legal secretary and then as office manager for Milburn Cain & Co., CPAs in Gurnee. Janis is survived by her daughter Roberta L Riley, and her grandchildren, Daniel Riley, Andrew Riley, Mollie Burns, and Jessica Dabbs. Also by eight great grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Alec, Carter, Elliston, Vivian, Jack and Riley. Janis was a devoted Grandmother and Great Grandmother, never happier than when spending time with her grandchildren and family. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday February 18th at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. Service will begin at 10 a.m. And Janis will be laid to rest at the Pine View Cemetery in Beach Park with her Mother, Father and Uncle.
